Pro Tip:

The Countertop Pre-Install: Do not wait until the masonry is finished to think about the lower slab. You must slide the stone slab for the Kamado base into place at the sixth course. If you wait until the walls are higher, you won’t be able to fit the stone between the blocks, and you’ll be forced to deconstruct your work.

The Most Capable Standalone Unit

The Unity K+ isn’t just a grill stand; it is a complete outdoor culinary module. Designed around the versatile Kamado cooking style—which excels at everything from high-heat searing to low-and-slow smoking and even pizza baking—this kit provides the thermal mass of solid masonry to match the performance of a premium ceramic grill.

Advanced Masonry Logic

While the assembly follows the no-cut Cornerstone System, the Unity K+ introduces specific structural details to accommodate the heavyweight of a Kamado and the integration of storage.

  • The Foundation Course: Terry emphasizes that the first course is the most important. It is significantly easier to adjust your layout now than after the entire kitchen is stacked on top.
  • Integrated Storage: We demonstrate how the “Plus” side of the unit can be configured as either a corner,  a cabinet, or a waterproof drawer. For the best long-term experience, the sealed drawer unit is recommended to keep dry goods protected from the dampness inherent in masonry cavities.
  • Tool Niches: The design includes built-in niches for hanging towels and grilling tools, ensuring everything you need is within arm’s reach while you cook.

Working with Limestone

The Unity K+ supports three natural honed limestone slabs. Terry explains why a honed finish is superior to a polished one for outdoor use: it hides fine scratches from trays and glasses, maintaining its “million-dollar” look far longer under heavy use and weather.
